AC-PD

ANTI-CYCLING - PHOTO DIODE SENSOR
HPS Lamps & Ballasts

The AC-PD is the most revolutionary photo-control of the 21st century and brings street lighting into the new millennium. One control fi ts any type of fi xture, from lamps sizes of 70 watts to 500 watts and voltages up through 347VAC and it is compatible with any ballast. With the new internally mounted controls, the luminaire housing retains the same general shape as it has had in the past. The Day/Night sensing is now accomplished with a permanently mounted, small photocell sensor on the top of the fi xture. The twist-lock socket is eliminated completely. Fifteen years of investigation, design and testing have produced a new concept in streetlight luminaries and a new type of High Pressure Sodium lamp control for the operation of these fi xtures. The end result of the major improvements in the AC-PD control is the reduction in cost of street illumination to less than half of the present costs.

The AC-PD is located inside the fi xture mounting. It is designed to prevent premature control failure caused by entry of the elements. The small fi xed photodiode sensor is mounted on top of the fi xture. The AC-PD is designed to protect any high pressure sodium streetlight fixture from cycling by sensing a failing lamp or other fixture problems.

LUMINANCE & ILLUMINANCE MEASUREMENT
Tunnel Lighting Control System

PLC-Multipoint Photo Diode sensor provide a linear analog input signal to controllers proportional to the light measured. Sensors shall be enclosed in heated weatherproof housings to prevent icing and condensation. Sensors signal the controller via 4-20mA current loops.

Luminance Measurement

TLUM Tunnel luminance sensors provide analog measurement in Candelas per square meter (cd/m²) that target refl ected light at each traffic direction’s entrance portal. Long distance signal transmission, up to 4,000 feet is accomplished through a 4-20mA current loop. TLUM Tunnel luminance sensors see a restricted field of view, e.g. 20° and are aimed at the tunnel portals composing the fi eld of vision that a driver at a safe stopping distance before entering the portal. The TLUM sensor is capable of measuring outdoor ranges of 0 to 10,000 Candelas per square meter (cd/m²). An amplifi er in the sensor enclosure provides sensitivity adjustment for the sensor. Sensors located in severe weather environment are protected from accumulated snow and ice through the use of thermostatically heated housings. Sensors subject to corrosive gases are housed in a gasket enclosures.

Illuminance Measurement
TMAS Tunnel illuminance sensors provide analog measurement in Foot-candles. TMAS sensors may be mounted to monitor ambient light near each entrance tunnel portal in unidirectional traffic bores or be located in a compromise location when both traffic directions share the same bore. The TMAS sensor mounting location is selected from several factors; unidirectional or bidirectional traffic flow, dominant traffic direction, time of year requiring most contrast lighting and maintainability.

T41 Controller

CONTROLLER
Tunnel Lighting Control System

The primary purpose of the T41 controller is to provide the most effective and effi cient way of controlling light
fi xtures at vehicular tunnel interiors and thresholds. The T41 controller receives an analog 4-20ma signal from one of PLC-Multipoint’s MAS, TMAS and TLUM sensors. The controller is cost-effective and easily-confi gurable with user program settings and accessories. The controller has four output channels per direction, providing a night function as well as three daytime light level outputs that are programmable according to the sensor’s input. Each channel has individual set-points for accuracy. The alternation sequence of lights with night/day crossover can be configured, providing a long life span on any tunnel fixture configuration. The controller has a built-in photo control input time delay and hold-on time which eliminates any sudden
switching surge caused by short duration changes in the ambient light levels.
